The Schoolcraft Community Library provides a community room to promote its mission of service to the community. The Community Room may be used by local individuals, groups and organizations. This space includes the large room, adjacent storage room, kitchenette, Centre Street entrance and bathrooms.
The policy for the use of the facility is established by the Library Board of Trustees and is subject to change at any time.
Availability

- Library use of the room takes precedence over all other uses. The library cannot guarantee that an individual or group can reserve or use the facility on a regular or consistent basis.
- If the library finds it necessary to cancel a scheduled activity, it will notify the person on the application.
- The community room may be reserved for use by local educational, civic, cultural, community, professional or governmental groups.
- Meetings that may disturb regular library functions are not permitted.
Scheduling

- The room will be scheduled for meetings during regular library hours or at the discretion of the Library Director.
- If the meetings extend past regular library hours a staffing fee will incur.
- Reservations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Hours of scheduling will include the total time involved in the meeting; from the time the organization requires the room for assembling until the room is vacated.
- The current rate is available on the Room Application and Agreement form.
A representative from the sponsoring organization who is 21 or older must sign an APPLICATION FORM at least 1 week prior to the scheduled event. This representative must read this policy statement and be responsible for the observance of its provisions. The application form must be printed, filled out and turned in to a staff member. There are copies available here and at the front desk.
Rules For Use

- The library cannot provide personnel for supervision or assistance in handling of exhibits or other materials needed by groups using the room.
- The user is responsible for all table and chair arrangements and for their replacement when finished. Taping, stapling or tacking of any materials to the walls or furniture is prohibited as well as the use of glitter and confetti.
- Refreshments may be served and must be noted on the application. The group is responsible for cleanup and bringing their own supplies, i.e. table settings, napkins etc.
- There is no smoking in the library, and no drugs or alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the premises.
- Candles or other open-flame devices are not permitted in the library. No hazardous materials may be brought into the library.
- The room must be left clean and in its original condition.
- The applicant is responsible for cost of repair or replacement of damaged facilities or equipment.
- The library will not be held liable for any injury sustained or damage done related to the use/misuse of equipment or facilities. The applicant is responsible for making all program attendees aware of the provisions of this policy.
- The sponsoring organization is responsible for registering participants for their program.
- The library will provide the contact information of the person/organization holding a meeting to persons requesting information on the scheduled meeting.
- All users of the library facilities agree to comply with all applicable laws and local ordinances.
- Weapons are prohibited in or on library property except when the State law takes precedence, i.e. Gun carry laws.
