Battle of the Books 17 Grand Battle Winner

Congratulations to BORN TO READ – Winners of the 17th Annual Battle of the Books!

The 17th Grand Battle of the Books event was held at the Schoolcraft High School PAC on Thursday, February 16, at 7 p.m.
Four teams “battled” from Schoolcraft and Vicksburg schools. They were: Peace Out Peppers (Schoolcraft), The Readers That Could (Vicksburg/Sunset Lake), Born to Read (Vicksburg/Tobey) and Book Battalion (Vicksburg/Tobey).

Scores ran high throughout the evening and even went into a tie-breaker round for third and fourth place winners. The results were as follows: 1st place: Born To Read, 2nd place: Peace Out Peppers, 3rd place: The Readers That Could, 4th place: Book Battalion.

It was an amazing event this year with consistently high scores throughout Preliminary Battles, Semi Finals and Grand Battle. My hat is off to the team members and their coaches for all the hard work that obviously took place for the last 3 months to bring so much knowledge to the event.

I also wish to thank all the volunteers and staff for their time and support before, during and after “battle” to help make the event run smoothly.

On to 2012-2013 18th Battle of the Books!
