Miss Bobbi's Blog:
An Explosion of Activity!
Posted on Thursday, June 9, 2011
I’m a little late with this last installment because there has indeed been an explosion activity going on at the library these last two weeks. The framers have been working steadily so that now it actually looks like a real building. Believe it or not, I can actually identify all of the rooms or areas in the new addition, even though they are still just studs!
The roofers have removed the old shingles and roofed all of the existing building, and are now working on felting the new part. The septic system has been installed and inspected (always good to have bathrooms). Bob Crissman and Mike Polderman have been preparing the ground for the new sidewalk, and Bob is setting forms for the first half.
Bob C. and his crew of volunteers will be pouring the sidewalks and the new light poles tomorrow, causing the site to look more and more like the finished product. We have been meeting with brick people to find matches for the outside of the building as well as choosing the color for the brick walk and the pattern for the path from the new sidewalk to the old sidewalk.
In addition to all these details for the outside of the building, there has been activity with the inside of the building as well. Carpet, tile and rubber flooring has been chosen, color palettes for the adult reading area, teen room, and children’s room have been approved and furniture for the new computer area has been ordered. We are currently in the process of figuring how much new shelving we can afford and where to use the old shelving.
Every day is exciting – even the gliches! Stay tuned for more…
