The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Schoolcraft Community Library are partnering to help set the direction for transportation decisions and investments through 2030. From March 30 through May 14, patrons accessing the Internet through the library's computers will be encouraged to complete a brief on-line questionnaire concerning MDOT's draft long-range transportation plan. Called MI (pronounced "my") Transportation Plan, the new plan will support MDOT's efforts to create a transportation system that is intelligent, inclusive, integrated, international, and socially, environmentally and economically responsible. Through the Library of Michigan (part of the Michigan Department of History, Arts and Libraries), regional library cooperatives and local libraries, MDOT has been gathering thousands of opinions from the public on line during the past 10 months of developing the plan. "We are happy to play a role in shaping Michigan's transportation future," said Bobbi Truesdell. "Our patrons rely on transportation to access us, so this is a great way for them to have a say in developing a system that is responsive to the needs of all users." The on-line questionnaire will be available through any Internet connection, 24-hours a day on the MI Transportation Plan Web site at www.michigan.gov/slrp. This is the last of three on-line questionnaires MDOT is using to involve the public in its planning process. |
