SCHOOLCRAFT COMMUNITY LIBRARY THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY CLOSING ... The Schoolcraft Community Library will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday the following hours:
Wednesday, November 21st ... close at 5:00 P.M.
Thursday, November 22nd ... closed for Thanksgiving
Friday, November 23rd ... closed
Saturday, November 24th ... REOPEN @ 10:00 A.M.

CHRISTMAS DROP-IN PRESCHOOL STORYHOUR - The Schoolcraft Community Library will host 3 Drop-In Christmas storyhours for children ages 3-5 years old. The storyhours will be held on the first three Wednesdays in December (December 5th, 12th and 19th) from 10 to 10:45 A.M. There will be stories, fingerplays, songs, crafts and a snack each week. Due to the hustle and bustle of the season, there will not be pre registration, so feel free to come to all or as many as your schedule will allow. But come when you can and join the Christmas Fun!!!

NEW PROGRAM AT THE SCHOOLCRAFT COMMUNITY LIBRARY!!! --- TOT TIME
... The Schoolcraft Community Library will be offering a NEW Toddler Time story time for children ages 18-36 months called "TOT TIME". This is a "Parent Participation" program with one adult and one child participating together at each session. We will begin our "TOT TIME" with 4 sessions in November -
Wednesday mornings November 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th at 9:30 A.M. The actual story part of the storytime will be from 9:30 to 10:00 A.M. and then from 10:0 to 10:30 A.M there will be time set aside for group play and interaction for the children and their parents. Pre registration is required for this program and can be done by calling the library at 679-5959. Space will be limited so please call today. We are looking forward to a wonderful new beginning with our youngest patrons!!
brown bag lunch BROWN BAG STORYHOUR --- The November Brown Bag Storyhour for those students in Young Fives and Kindergarten will be held Wednesday, November 14th from 11:10 A.M. to 11:50 A.M. If you didn't get to attend last month, make it a point to join us this month for stories and lunch and a special activity. This month's theme will be "food".
Knight BATTLE OF THE BOOKS ... Team Registrations forms for those of you participating in the 14th Annual Battle of the Books are due Friday, November 16th. You should bring the forms to the Schoolcraft Community Library before 5 P.M. that day or you may send them via fax to 679-5599 or mail them to the Schoolcraft Community Library, 330 North Centre St., Schoolcraft, Michigan, 49087. Battle books are available for purchase at Barnes and Noble and Kazoo Books. There are also copies of the books and some audios available for check out at the Schoolcraft Community Library and the Schoolcraft Upper Elementary school library. ALSO, T-Shirt orders are due December 7th, 2007 at the Schoolcraft Community Library. The orders should be turned in to the Schoolcraft Community Library and there should be ONE order form per TEAM and ONE check per TEAM made out to Midwest Printing and Promotions. No cash will be accepted. Many thanks.

NOTE: December 7th is the last day to make substitutions for your battle teams.

Schoolcraft Library goes Wi-Fi! WI-FI at the Schoolcraft Community Library!!!! --- Wireless internet service has come to the Schoolcraft Community Library. So whether you are traveling through town, needing to quick check your email or an important website for a research paper for school, you can bring your laptop to the library and hook up.

brown bag lunch BROWN BAG STORYHOUR ---The Schoolcraft Community Library is hosting its Brown Bag Storyhour for students in Young Fives and Kindergarten. This is a monthly program and will begin on Wednesday, October 17th from 11:10 to 11:50 A.M. Students from both morning and afternoon classes are welcome to attend and should bring a lunch, a smile and good listening ears. (No red or purple drinks please.) The dates for the remainder of 2007 are November 14th and December 12th. So, mark your calendars and come join the lunchtime fun at the Schoolcraft Community Library.

SCHOOLCRAFT COMMUNITY LIBRARY AND THE KALAMAZOO AIR ZOO PARTNER TOGETHER FOR SAVINGS FOR PATRONS ... May 1st thru December 31st, 2007 ... Beginning May 1st, 2007 the current cardholders of the Schoolcraft Community Library will be able to experience a 50% savings on regular admission prices to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. How you say? The Schoolcraft Community Library and the Kalamazoo Air Zoo have partnered together to offer this special promotional opportunity to the Schoolcraft Library's patrons. This special promotion will run thru December 31, 2007 and the 50% discount is available only to Schoolcraft Community Library cardholders not to the entire party. This applies to children and adult cardholders and the cards must be current. Adult cardholders will be required to present photo ID at the time of purchase of Kalamazoo Air Zoo admission tickets. The discount is available regardless of how many times the patron visits the Air Zoo between May 1st and December 31st. The discount is also available only on regular admissions, but not on special programs or events . * TumbleBook - You can now access TumbleBook Library for kids from the library's web page by clicking on the TumbleBook link. TumbleBook is a collection of animated, talking picture books and TumblePuzzles and Tumble Games. These are created from existing picture books which have been licensed from children's book publishers and converted into the TumbleBook format. You can play TumbleBook at the library, from home, or even while on vacation!!! This is an exciting new offering at the Schoolcraft Community Library and we hope parents and kids will take advantage of it. ENJOY!!

QSAC: Quality Service Audit Checklist
-SCHOOLCRAFT LIBRARY ATTAINS "ESSENTIAL LEVEL" OF QUALITY SERVICES FROM LIBRARY OF MICHIGAN - The Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to announce that it is one of 10 Class II libraries in Michigan who have qualified for the Essential Level requirements from the Quality Services audit checklist known as QSAC. There are seven categories of achievement which include human resources, governance/administration, services, collections development, technology, facilities and equipment and public relations/marketing. By focusing on these key areas the Schoolcraft Library has demonstrated a strong commitment to customer service. There are 78 class libraries in the State of Michigan and so the Schoolcraft Community Library is proud to have been one of the first 10 to have achieved this goal.

NOTE: LASER JET CARTRIDGE RECYCLING PROGRAM ... The Schoolcraft Community Library regrets to inform its patrons that the Laser Jet Recycling Program has once again been discontinued. You can still recycle your ink jet cartridges and any old cell phones as well in the bags provided at the library, but laser jet cartridges will no longer be accepted. You may be able to dispose of them through Office Max or there is a recycling center near the Kalamazoo County Fairgrounds. Many thanks for your support of this program while it lasted.

PRESCHOOL STORYHOUR ... "Reading Down on the Farm"
The Schoolcraft Community Library will be offering its Fall Preschool Storyhour for children ages 3-5 years. This storyhour will feature the new Michigan Reads book Big Chickens by Leslie Helakoski and will sport a "farm theme".
