BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP --- Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac --- Thursday, March 1 - 4 P.M. --- The Schoolcraft Community Library will be hosting a book discussion group at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo on March 1st for TEENS and ADULTS. The book they will be discussing is Code Talker - A Novel About the Navajo Marines of World War Two by Joseph Bruchac. This book brings to life the amazing story of the Navajo Code Talkers who were a crucial part of the U.S. effort during World War II. These men sent messages back and forth in unbreakable code using their native language. They braved some of the heaviest fighting of the war and with their code saved countless American lives. Their story is told through this fictional tale of Ned Begay. His grueling journey is eye-opening and inspiring. Code Talker honors all of those young men who dared to serve and it honors the culture and language of the Navajo Indians while also speaking eloquently of the brutal realities of war. The book can be checked out at the Schoolcraft Community Library. Registration would be appreciated so we can plan for our book discussion on March 1st. Call the library at 679-5959 to register and reserve a copy of the book.
